MEN’S TEMAZCAL
A gathering of men in ceremony
Long Beach, California
Arrival: 7:00 PM
Please plan approximately 4–5 hours for the full experience.
The Intention
The Men’s Temazcal is an opportunity for men to gather in ceremony and cultivate a deeper relationship with ourselves, one another, and Life.
Our intention is to enter the ceremony connected to our masculine energy: our presence, integrity, responsibility, strength, direction, and willingness to show up fully.
As we enter the Temazcal, we are also invited to receive, connect, trust, and surrender to the feminine energy of the space.
What is a Temazcal?
Temazcal is an ancient Mesoamerican ceremonial practice that brings people together inside an enclosed, womb-like structure.
Heated volcanic stones, known as abuelitas, are brought into the center of the Temazcal. Water and herbs are placed upon the stones, creating the heat and steam that become part of the ceremony.
Our ceremony unfolds through four doors, or rounds, and may include prayer, songs, drumming, rattles, silence, reflection, and shared intention.
The Masculine & Feminine
The Temazcal is traditionally understood as the womb of Mother Earth.
Outside the Temazcal, the fire carries a powerful masculine force as it heats the abuelitas. The stones are then brought into the feminine space of the womb, where fire, earth, water, air, breath, and our own presence come together.
For men, this creates an opportunity to embody our strength and presence while allowing ourselves to receive, trust, connect, and surrender to what the ceremony presents.
The Experience
The Temazcal itself generally lasts approximately 2–3 hours, depending on the flow of the ceremony. Please plan approximately 4–5 hours for the complete experience, including preparation, ceremony, and time together afterward.
Arrival is at 7:00 PM.
The ceremony is facilitated in English, with songs in Spanish.
About Your Facilitator
My name is Armando Hart, and I will be facilitating and holding the space for this Men’s Temazcal.
I was initiated by Temazcal leaders and entrusted to offer and facilitate this ceremony. I carry that responsibility with humility and deep respect for the traditions that have been shared with me, the ceremony itself, and every man who enters the Temazcal.
My own path has been shaped by movement, coaching, teaching, fatherhood, my Mexican and Purépecha ancestry, and the continued practice of learning how to participate more fully in Life.
For this Men’s Temazcal, my intention is to create and hold a space where we can gather as men, embody our masculine energy, support one another, and allow ourselves to receive and surrender to what the ceremony presents.
I approach this responsibility with presence, respect, integrity, and a willingness to listen.
