I’ve come to realize that I live life out of 4 different zones. Each one has its own energy, its own lessons, and its own impact on how I show up.
The first zone is the Vice Zone.
This is where I avoid what’s right in front of me. I avoid responsibility. I distract myself. I give in to old habits and patterns that don’t serve me. I numb instead of feel. I shrink instead of rise. In this zone, my energy is low, my clarity is gone, and I know I’m not being who I really am. In this zone I am more reactive and easily moved from my center.
The second zone is what I call the Tug-of-War Zone.
Here, I’m trying to overcome my vices, but I go back and forth. I’ll have moments of strength, then I’ll slip. I’ll push forward, then fall back. It’s like living with one foot on solid ground and the other in quicksand. This zone is exhausting because I know better, but I haven’t fully chosen better.
The third zone is the Neutral Zone.
In this space, I’ve overcome my vices, but I’m not elevated. I’m not inspired. I’m not on fire. I’m just going through the motions. Life feels flat. I’m functioning, but I’m not flowing. This zone can feel safe, but it’s not fulfilling. It’s survival, not thriving.
And then there’s the fourth zone, my Power Zone.
This is where I feel alive. This is where I’m pure, free of vices, and fully present. In my power zone, I engage in activities that lift me up. I feel spontaneous, centered, and creative. I’m less triggered, more grounded, and connected to my environment. I take responsibility, I move with inspiration, and I feel like myself again.
The truth is, I move through all 4 zones. Some days I get stuck in the vice zone. Other days I wrestle in the tug-of-war zone. Sometimes I coast in the neutral zone. But I know what it feels like to live in my power zone and that’s where I want to spend more of my time.
The more time I choose my power zone, the more aligned, purposeful, and alive my life becomes.
So I ask you:
Which zone are you living out of today?
